Colours. Curves. Class. That's what you'll find when you explore the work of Aileen aka Neelia. Only in her 20s, this Vancouverite has spent years studying the subtle world between lines and space in music, print, electronic media, and architecture.

Aileen "daylights" as an operative for a secret government department, and has very few weaknesses except strawberry juliuses, black sesame bubble tea, and Vietnamese noodles. For those so inclined, the quickest way to her heart is to take her to a smart movie or on vacation (Eastern Europe is at the top of her list).

When she gets down to business, she relies on various sources for inspiration. These include music (Radiohead circa The Bends, Longpigs, Muse, Sondre Lerche, Damien Rice), art (Peter Max, Shag), books (the Shopaholic and Harry Potter series, as well as any of the Mr. Men and Little Miss books), the telly (Veronica Mars, Ugly Betty, Grey's Anatomy) and shopping (clothes, jewellery, handbags, round-toed shoes, furniture, fish).

Her trademarks include clean lines and solid colours, and no colour is safe from her imagination or her closet. Though designing typefaces was one of her first passions, the current one is making jewellery. Most of her pieces are created out of sterling silver and semiprecious stones or freshwater pearls. In her free time, she also likes to photograph anything that captures her fancy.

The past five years brought Aileen across Canada and to the US, Mexico, England, Taiwan, South Korea, Hong Kong, China, Singapore, Indonesia, South Africa, and Swaziland, but the campaign to win over the world continues. Aileen plans to travel to Turkey next, then Peru, and a fantastic trip to the south end of the world is already in the works. And no matter where she goes, she will be available in person to sign a variety of books, prints, and inappropriate body parts.
